ABOUT
I have been playing drums since I was 14. I have been in about 5-6 serious bands and a few not-so-serious ones. The first time I experienced an emotional kick from music was when the guitar kicked in coming back out of the chorus on Revelations by Iron Maiden when I was ten years old. This in no way defines the only style of music I am interested in/play; I was in the Dublin based electro-rock band Sounds of System Breakdown for 3 years. I became interested in electronic/rock hybrids through early Nine Inch Nails and Peter Gabriel's earlier releases. I play full on with my heart when playing live (and during practice often). My musical interests are widely varied. For me, having a good time an playing music I believe in is paramount. If it is financially successful in the long run, well thats the a dream come true. However, I do not need this to occur to feel that I am doing something truly worthwhile. The 'It' happens in the moment when the band as a whole greater than the sum of its parts, the music and the audience come together in a way that transcends the mundane. This can happen with an acoustic ballad, face melting rock riff, electronic irresistible dance beat and even (rarely) in pop music. Its the feel, not the style that makes playing and being in touch with music so profound. I have had enough time being away from my last band and am ready to reconnect to what it is.
