The Terrible Barbarians is a music-based artist collective, within the broad definition of art-pop, and with the five shared goals of:
(1) Music as Art ... aka poncy high concepts quite welcome.
(2) Music as Science ... Let's ultimately aim to read and write the music, so we can practice more efficiently and better utilize and improve music theory. I am aware of the difficulty for guitar players, and I have a cunning plan to resolve it...
3) Music for Humans ... Nothing completely inaccessible to most people like super-heavy metal or electroacoustic.
(4) Music by Humans ... No AI compositions.
(5) Music for live! ... Where possible, most pieces should have versions/arrangements suitable for live shows.
A music-based artist collective is similar to to a regular pop/rock band. The key difference is, that there is no requirement to adhere to a strict type of sound. Rather the shared goals are what binds the group together and keeps it moving forward.
Although this is an artist collective, members don't need to compose music, and those who choose not to, can simply experience being part of this innovative group, and performing original new sounds live!
